Overview

PTC Alerts provides a comprehensive alert management system offering a centralised interface to any business management solution.

The Alert Management System is the core component of any Enterprise Management solution. It is the tool that allows information to flow between different applications within the Enterprise, and it is the means by which users can be kept informed about the status of these applications.

Alerts can be raised from within any management application and passed to PTC Alerts to process. This could be a simple event, such as temperature reaching a pre-defined threshold, or it could be a complex event, such as server utilisation remaining above 80% for more than five minutes. It can even be a positive event, such as payroll application terminating normally.

Using a diary together with a condition database, PTC Alerts will determine who is on call and how to contact them: email, pager, voice message or SMS text message.

Alert Acknowledgement
  Acknowledgement receipt guarantees that the alert has been read.

Automatic Escalation
  If an acknowledgement receipt is not issued for an alert, it is escalated to someone else.

Knowledge base
  PTC Alerts maintains a "knowledge base" of contact information so that problem notification can be directed to the correct person immediately.

Diary functionality
  Built-in functionality to check and ascertain a contact is available (not on holiday, sick or in a meeting). If the contact is unavailable, then the next available contact is automatically selected from the knowledge base.
Diary based alerting also allows automatic switching of alert methods, i.e. from email to pager after 6pm.

Time functionality
  PTC Alerts includes time functionality so that the person can be contacted in the most efficient manner, for example by email during 9am-5pm and via SMS message otherwise.

Flexibility
  PTC Alerts allows for alert notification via email, SMS, voice telephony, pager, sound file, IP message, SNMP. More importantly, it allows for alert acknowledgement via email, SMS and DTMF (telephony).
PTC Alerts also allows for multiple alerts to be issued simultaneously to the same, or to different contacts.

Accountability
  The Alert Centre includes the current status of every outstanding fault, showing who is working on it and how long the fault has been open.

Reporting
  Comprehensive management reporting and statistical utilities built in.
